ARTIST BIO
Mohsen Douihech was born in Tunisia, North Africa. The name Red Lizard Gallery is taken from a train that runs through the Sahara Desert, Le Lezard Rouge. Although he was born in a charming village on the Mediterranean Sea, the desert is nearby and his love for the desert appears in many of his works.

At age 17, he moved to Paris, where he became interested in art, particularly the works of Chagall,  Picasso and Jackson Pollock. In addition to art schools, he also attended culinary school to fulfill another of his many passions; cooking. An award-winning chef with extraordinary talent using aromatic spices, he has achieved notoriety in London, San Francisco and Santa Fe, N.M., where he found more inspiration for his art from the desert and the Native Americans. He was amazed by the similarities between the desert in New Mexico and the Sahara, including the adobe architecture. His extensive travels throughout Europe, America and Canada have left their mark on his works. Each painting has hidden images and mystical composition and drama with skilled use of color, texture and motion. Mohsen has two sons that he adores and he makes his home in San Francisco.
